Read below if you are not sure what type of judgment you are uploading to NYSCEF. After you upload the proposed Judgment to NYSCEF,
the Judgment Clerk will look it over and let you know if there are any problems. If it is good, the Judgment Clerk will add costs
and disbursements and any interest to the judgment and send it to the County Clerk to sign and enter. If you need more information

- Judgment to County Clerk: Most decisions by the court direct entry of judgment by the County Clerk. So most proposed
judgments go to the County Clerk.
- Judgment by Confession: A proposed Judgment by Confession is based on a written paper signed by the other side that
admits that you are owed money that is due, or about to come due, or will be paid if some event happens.
- Judgment by Default: A proposed Default Judgment is when you are asking the court for a judgment because the other side
did not answer or missed a court date. If the amount of money owed is a set amount, like a promissory note for $35,000,
a proposed Default Judgment goes to the Judgment Clerk to look over.
- Judgment to Court: If the Judge made a decision in the case and told the parties to settle the judgment, the proposed
Judgment uploaded to NYSCEF goes to the Judge. Tell NYSCEF the name of the Judge on your case. You and the other side may
both upload a Judgment that you want the Judge to choose. The Judge will decide which Judgment to sign. The Judgment Clerk
may still add any costs, disbursement and interest. And the Judgment will be entered by the County Clerk.
